There are several different events during the Forsythia Festival season. Expect to see some of your family’s favorite events in 2020, like the Forsythia 5K, Hello Yellow & Food Truck Frenzy Kickoff, Faith Fest, and the Tailgate Toss. The 2020 Forsythia Festival will also have some new events for you to enjoy, like a special themed party!
Kick off the Forsythia season at our annual Business2Business event. Hosted by Connie R. Ham Middle Georgia Realty, this event gives our business community to get a jump start on festival activities. Stop by Middle Georgia Realty on Thursday, February 27 at 5:30 p.m. for your first chance to buy a festival t-shirt or grab a calendar of events. It also serves as our quarterly Business After Hours. Hello, Yellow! & The Forsythia Food Truck Frenzy
Celebrate the official start to the 33rd Anniversary Forsythia Festival on Saturday, February 29! For 2020, Hello, Yellow! will include the Food Truck Frenzy and the annual student art show for one grand kickoff. Get forsythias painted on your car, pick up t-shirts, grab a bite to eat and more. Hello, Yellow! Car Show
Swing by Hutchinson Ford of Forsyth for 2020 Forsythia Hello, Yellow! Car Show. The show starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 29. You can enter a vehicle or just browse through the selection of show cars. An array of awards will be presented including Best in Show, Best Original and Best Engine. All proceeds will benefit Monroe County’s Save A Pet. Contact the folks at Hutchinson Ford for more information about this sanctioned event.
Forsyth’s Greatest Night: Hollywood Hoedown
Join us for a Hollywood Hoedown as we get ready to celebrate the 33rd Annual Forsythia Festival. Put on your Boots & Bling and head out to Morgan View Farm for a fun evening. We’ll have dancing, a cash bar, and even a best cowboy hat contest. The party starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Tickets are $25 each or two tickets for $40. The Duke University Chorale
The Duke University Chorale performs numerous concerts throughout the year, and tours annually during Duke’s Spring Break. In previous years, the Chorale has toured China, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, England, Wales, Mexico, and many parts of the U.S. The Chorale is delighted that their 2020 tour takes them to southeastern US, just in time for the Forsythia Festival! This talented group has a special place in the heart of Forsyth, as two Mary Persons graduates are currently touring with them. Help us welcome this musical group to Forsyth on Thursday, March 12. Used Book Sale
The Friends of the Monroe County Library Used Book Sale begins Friday, March 13 and runs through Sunday, March 15. This annual event offers book lovers a chance to dig through hundreds of titles ranging from some of today’s most-popular writers to cook books and gardening guides. You’ll never know what you will find at the Used Book Sale. The sale takes place at the Monroe County Club House. The hours for Friday and Saturday are 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday you can take part in the $5.00 Box Sale from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. For more information or more information about this sanctioned event, contact the Monroe County Library.
Forsythia Festival Golf Tournament
The Exchange Club of Forsyth invites local and non-local golfers alike to come tee off the festival weekend at the Forsyth Golf Club. Registration is $60.00 per player, which includes registration, lunch and two mulligans. The event swings into action on Friday, March 13. Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. and Tee Off is at 12:00 p.m. Call (478) 214-3726 to register or for more information.
David Phelps in Concert
Grammy and Dove Award Winner, David Phelps, will perform at the Monroe County Fine Arts Center as apart of the 2020 Forsythia Festival. Phelps is most known for his nearly 20 years of singing with the Gaither Vocal Band. David Phelps is credited among today’s most spectacular voices. His seemingly endless vocal range, which extends more than three octaves, coupled with his gift for communicating a song, has brought the house down in the world’s most prestigious venues. Saturday, March 14th – Sunday, March 15th
Welcome to the Forsythia Festival 5K! The races begins and end at FitCo Health Club on Saturday, March 14. On-site registration starts at 7 a.m. The race takes off at 8 a.m. Registration is $20 prior to March 1. Then it will increase to $25. Our 2020 Forsythia 5K Sponsored by Monroe Physical Therapy.
Boy Scout Troop 51 Pancake Breakfast
The Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast is a Forsythia Festival tradition for many families. Start your day off right with a delicious breakfast cooked by our local scouts. For just $8.00 you can fuel up before heading out to the Arts & Crafts fair. The scouts start serving at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. Forsyth United Methodist Church Yard Sale
After your delicious pancake breakfast, swing by the Forsyth United Methodist Church Yard Sale. This annual event benefits the Youth Ensemble Choir Tour, which gives our local teens the chance to perform mission work and concerts in different parts of the country each year. a delicious breakfast cooked by our local scouts. The sale starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. Contact our friends at the Forsyth United Methodist Church for more information about this sanctioned event.
Arts & Crafts Fair
The pinnacle event of the Forsythia Festival is set in the streets of Downtown Forsyth. Join us March 14-15 as we welcome roughly 20,000 people, and more than 100 vendors, to Forsyth. Shop for arts and crafts, enjoy the tasty festival treats, and spend some time with your children at the Kids Corner. Hours are Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Stop by Kids’ Corner in Downtown Forsyth to enjoy inflatables, obstacle courses and other activities. Grab a wristband to let your child really have a good time. Pony rides are also available. Hours are Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Watch as area musicians, dancers and entertainers showcase their talents for the festival crowd. Located in the heart of Downtown Forsyth, the entertainment stage is a must-see. Hours are Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Forsythia Tailgate Toss
The Forsythia Tailgate Toss returns this year again this year! Get ready for a friendly cornhole competition in the Persons Banking Company parking lot. The competition starts at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. Thank you Persons Banking Company for your continued support of the Tailgate Toss.
FaithFest Singing Competition
Celebrate music, faith and our community at FaithFest 2020, our faith-based singing competition. It happens Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. A goodwill offering will be accepted. Thank you Tolbert & Associates for continuing to support FaithFest!
Community Worship Service
Join us for this special service, Sunday, March 15. It takes place at 10:00 a.m. at the Forsyth Presbyterian Church on Jackson Street in Downtown Forsyth.
